I’m back, sorry for missing the past two newsletters. I hope you’ll forgive me 🙂 . I was out in Los Angeles spending some much needed family time, hitting the reset button and coming to terms that summer is over. Yes, I really love summer to the point where I usually complain about it ending for a few weeks and then move on. This will be the last summer chirp.

This batch is a mix of discoveries and personal favorites: a Chicago band channeling classic rock with a modern twist, Duckwrth turning chaos into an anthem, and a little something from me that’s equal parts goofy and honest.

Let’s get into it!

He’s a Wizard - Wide Orbit

Wide Orbit is going to be huge. Hailing from Chicago, the college friends turned rock band are giving me heavy new age Beatles and Beach Boys energy. This track is anchored by tight guitar lines and layered harmonies that feel familiar yet distinctly fresh. Wide Orbit has clearly found a voice that pulls together psych-leaning keys, sharp rhythms, and a sense of storytelling that sticks with you. If you dig this song, I’d give the whole project a spin.

Wyl’ Out - Duckwrth

Duckwrth has never been one to play it safe, but Wyl’ Out pushes the chaos button. The track thrashes forward on buzzing guitars and 808s with a Brockhampton-esque vocal delivery. This track is less a party song and more a rally cry…a demand to show up, sweat it out, and forget about everything else for a few minutes. Throw this one on if you need a mid day energy boost.

hey hey hey - shwiggly

I promise this is the last song I’m going to share of mine but, only because it’s the last song I’m putting out for the foreseeable future. It’s a super fun but quirky song. I wrote it about feeling too shy to go speak to a pretty lady at a bar. Clocking in at just over a minute, it’s high energy jam. LMK what you think. It’s probably not for everyone but I really enjoy it so that’s all that matters! Yeeeeeehawwww!

Quote of the Day

If you don’t like the road your walking, start paving another one.

- Dolly Parton

Video of the Day

Nardwuar is one of the most iconic music interviewers. His music knowledge and antics are unmatched on so many levels. I really enjoyed this interview between him and Sabrina Carpenter. He has a way of really pulling out a different side of his interviewees which I think is the most important part of a good interview. Enjoy!

In honor of 9/11 here’s an image of the iconic heavy metal band, Motorhead ripping some darts at the World Trade Center in 1980. The image was shot by Denis O’Regan.
