Not going to lie, I’m fucking sad. It’s the unofficial last weekend of summer. Summer always comes and then is gone in a heartbeat. It’s never long enough. You look forward to it all year and then just like that it ends. What a shame. However, it makes me realize how much I love the warm weather and being by the ocean. There are very few things in life that bring me more happiness than a beautiful day / sunset on the beach. I will definitely be living at the beach during some point in my life. Ok, enough complaning.

Let’s get into it.

Wonder - Shwiggly

I’m back with another song of mine. I actually really dig this song. Not that I don’t dig the other songs I’ve put out but I remember writing this one when I was super depressed. Listening back to it now, it makes me sad but also proud that I was able to channel my feelings into something I am now proud of. The song explore the idea of whether or not I would ever find love. I did for those who are wondering. Take a listen and let me know what you think!

X-Rated - Cloonee

“X‑Rated” is a tech‑house single by UK producer Cloonee featuring vocals (and sampling) from ’90s rap trio Funkdoobiest. Cloonee reimagines the Funkdoobiest classic by flipping and layering sampled vocals over tight, percussive house rhythm with a fat and chunky bass line. It’s a high‑octane fusion of nostalgic hip‑hop and modern house. It almost impossible to not bop your head to this one. This one would go crazy on any club dance floor. Enjoy!

Anchin Kfu Ayinkash - Hailu Mergia

This instrumental gem comes from the 1978 Ethiopian jazz‑funk cassette Wede Harer Guzo by Hailu Mergia and the Dahlak Band. It was part of Ethiopia’s fragrant golden era of music: rich in polyrhythmic grooves, analog keys, and improvisational soul however, the song remained largely unheard outside the region for decades. In the 2010s, the reissue label Awesome Tapes From Africa rediscovered Mergia’s cassette library. They re-released Wede Harer Guzo in 2016, introducing the meditative, hypnotic “Anchin Kfu Ayinkash” to international ears. The song is a mellow, groove-based instrumental that is richly emotive without lyrics. Mergia’s organ and accordion interplay, backed by subtle drum machine loops, create a dreamlike, almost psychedelic mood.

Quote of the Day

Cause a little bit of summer is what the whole year is about

Photo of the Day

This is an image of Dee Dee Ramone shot in 1980 by the legendary Janette Beckman. Janette was the first music photographer who took the time to give me guidance when I was just a young 20 year old trying to break into the music scene. She spoke to me for two hours!! I got to ask so many questions and I am forever grateful. Janette you will probably never read this but, thank you. I suggest you type her name into Google and see all the fire images she has shot.
