Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend. I skipped Sunday’s session since most people probably weren’t checking email on a long weekend, and honestly, it was too nice a day to be inside. There’s always this post–Labor Day energy in the air: school’s back, summer’s fading, and fall is right around the corner. Maybe it’s just NYC, but I felt it on my morning walk. For me, the best stretch of New York weather is now through mid October, before we get hit with what I’m guessing will be a cold and wet winter. Anyway, back to the music.
Let’s get into it.

Timebomb - Dappled Cities
Hailing from Sydney, Dappled Cities (originally known as Dappled Cities Fly) have been active since 1997, weaving together indie rock, art rock, dream pop, and synth-infused textures. This song is driven by a nice warm bass line and airy vocals. While the band has been largely under the radar there’s something very soothing about their sound. Take a listen and let me know what you think of it.

Who You Really Are - Pisha
The Oklahoma bred, Brooklyn based artist, Pisha just dropped a new track called Who You Really Are and it’s been on repeat for me. It’s this dreamy electro-pop moment that explores the feelings of heartbreak. She wrote and co-produced it herself, which makes the honesty in the lyrics hit even harder. Definitely one of those songs you appreciate for the honest lyrics and experimental production.

Past It - Lexa Gates
I think this is third or fourth time I’ve shared a Lexa Gates track and for good reason. She’s a beast. I really think she’s coming up on her time to blow up. Her flow, swag and sound is undeniable. It’s only a matter of time. This track is produced by Emilie Haynie (Lana Del Rey, FKA Twigs) and captures that bittersweet haze of chasing something only to realize it doesn’t always feel like you thought it would. The production has this candy land type sound to it which mixes well with her melodic flow.
